Response to CJINI Report

“The findings of this review are extremely concerning because I know from speaking to victims of crime that neighbourhood policing is highly valuable in both our response to crime but also in addressing the fear of crime.

“These officers build important relationships and can be particularly welcome for people who are victims of hate crime and people who are especially vulnerable.

“I also find concerning that CJINI have flagged a lack of qualitative data as an issue. If we’re going to understand the impact of officers being withdrawn from community policing roles to work in other roles, we need to understand what impact that has on the community and especially on victims of crime.”
